Rang Mahal
Inspired by the artistry and tradition of Phad paintings of Rajasthan, we've created a game that helps the younger generations to connect with their culture and revives traditional art forms. The entire game board has been hand painted on a cotton canvas fabric, cards are printed on paper and the tokens are made of wood.
Each player takes on the role of a Phad painter, starting with a unique vision. Using the currency cards, players must gather the necessary natural resources to complete their Phad painting like Indigo and Hartal through bidding, trading, or even a little strategic thievery. The first artist to complete their masterpiece and bring their vision to life emerges victorious.

The game consists of a game board, coloured token resources, painting cards, currency cards and special cards. Each player begins with a unique painting card and 6 currency cards each. The game begins at the brown (mud) section and moves towards white.
Players start bidding by putting one of the currency cards face down and then reveal it. The player with the highest currency value gets to pick up a resource from the brown (Mud) section and a Special card from the middle of the game board (special cards can make a player lose, steal, bid or win resources in many ways). The game then moves to the red (sangrak- stone used to prepare red pigment) section and so on. The game continues until one of the players collects all the resources they require to complete their Phad painting.

Currency cards of values 1-6. They have been inspired by the cattle trade in Rajasthan. The cards feature animals like horse, cow, camel, elephant, etc.

The special cards are inspired by the characters in Phad traditions like the deity Pabuji, his mighty horse Kesar Kalami, Naagin, etc. While playing the game the players also learn about various characters and stories in the Phad narrative.
